Information and the online registration for YOA membership. Click here. A $5 annual membership is needed for all YOA events.

September 22, 2023

Our annual Night-O will finish up the 2023 season on Friday, Sept 22. Bring clothing layers, headlamp/flashlights (the controls are highly reflective).

To avoid delays, YOA memberships should be completed online ahead of the meet.

The location is at the Wolf Creek Campround (10 minutes S of Whitehorse on Alaska Highway). A volunteer is needed to organize hot chocolate.

What's new in 2023?

Easier to see Control Flags on the way - we've ordered new control flags, to replace those badly faded, damaged and eaten.

We have combined our Croucher Creek, Long Lake, Magnusen, Hidden Lakes and Miles Canyon maps into one super "East Bank" map. This creates some new meet options that used to span two (or more) maps! Thanks to our mapping team and Forest Pearson.

Staying Safe While Orienteering

Every orienteering participant should read the document Staying Safe While Orienteering (PDF).

Bears And YOA Meets

NOTE: There may be bears in any of the map areas where YOA meets are held. YOU must be “bear aware”. To reduce risk, use precautions set out in the booklet How you can STAY SAFE in bear country.

Dogs At YOA Meets

A dog biting incident has prompted the executive to advise orienteers bringing dogs to events to:

  • Leash your dog while in the parking/assembly/start areas;
  • If dogs accompany you on your course, they must be under your immediate control at all times;
  • If there are more incidents or complaints, we may need to take a more stringent approach.
Thank you
